Hoover DamHoover Dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on US-93 at Arizona's border with Nevada. The dam stands a testament of the country's fortitude to continue building through tough times. Hoover dam was constructed during the Great Depression over a period of five years and employing thousands in an effort to control the Colorado River. The result was the largest dam of its time. Today, Hoover Dam still stands proud as a world famous structure, a national historic landmark and is rates as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering by the American Society of Civil Engineers. |

Lake MohaveLake Mohave is a 67-mile stretch of the Colorado River that is located just north of the Bullhead City/Laughlin area, running for most of its length confined between the steep walls of the Pyramid, Painted, Eldorado and Black canyons. There are hundreds of beaches along Lake Mohave that are only accessible by boat and make a great "day port" for enjoying boating, water skiing, swimming and other water sports. Davis DamDavis Dam was built by the Bureau of Reclamation in Pyramid Canyon 67 miles downstream from Hoover Dam on the southern end of Lake Mohave approximately 2 miles upstream from Laughlin, Nevada & Bullhead City, Arizona and 10 miles north of the point where Arizona, California and Nevada meet. The main purpose of Davis Dam, completed in 1953, is to regulate releases from Hoover Dam. |

London BridgeThe London Bridge, originally constructed in the late 1820's, was "falling down" by the 1960s. The City of London put the bridge up for auction in 1968 and it was won by Robert P. McCulloch, founder of Lake Havasu City. The bridge was broken down, shipped 10,000 miles to Long Beach, California, and trucked into Lake Havasu City. Reconstruction of the bridge was completed and dedicated in Lake Havasu City on October 10, 1971. Today, London Bridge remains a crown jewel of the region. |

Historic Route 66Explore over 200 miles of the original Route 66 in Arizona. Coming from the east, begin your journey at Holbrook, the home of the famous Wigwam Village landmark and the Navajo County Historical Society in the historic Navajo County Courthouse, and close to the Petrified Forest National Park and the Navajo Nation. Drive on to Winslow, which is convenient to Homolovi Ruins State Park, the Little Painted Desert and Meteor Crater. Next up is Flagstaff, which offers the downtown Route 66 Santa Fe Train Depot and the on Route 66. Continue west to historic Williams, "The Gateway to the Grand Canyon," which features the 1940's neon signs of "Motel Row" and the Kaibab National Forest. Next up is Ash Fork, where you can see motels, gas stations and businesses that have been in operation since the highway's opening in 1926. Just down the road is Seligman, the "Birthplace of Historic Route 66," where the past lives today. Continue on to the cave tours of the Grand Canyon Caverns. Continue on to Peach Springs, the headquarters of the Hualapi Indian Reservation. Enjoy the colorful, scenic terrain and historic structures as you travel through Truxton, Valentine and Hackberry. Kingman takes you back in time to the highway's "heyday", be sure to visit the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Continue on to the historic charm of the mining town of Oatman. The westward tour of Arizona's Historic Route 66 ends at the eastern side of the Colorado River at Topcock/Golden Shores, which lies halfway between our location in Bullhead City and Lake Havasu. |
